SMC Launches New Website
Share Medical Center (SMC) announces the launch of its new website, www.smcok.com. The address remains the same, but the content is completely revamped with a very user-friendly design.
The new website comes after months of collaboration with St. Anthony Hospital (Oklahoma City) to build a website framework for affiliate hospitals to use in their web promotions activities.
"This has been an intense and lengthy process, but I am very pleased with the finished product," remarked SMC Marketing Director, Kelly Parker.
The process was initiated shortly after SMC entered into its partnership with St. Anthony Hospital. The effort began with collaborative meetings between SMC, St. Anthony Hospital and other affiliate hospital marketing staff, followed by legal review, a request for proposals, and ultimately the approval of a proposal. Website development was provided by Oklahoma City based s design and the new site launched on June 27.
SMC and St. Anthony Hospital shared a vision of co-branding their websites and making a website framework available for other affiliates. The expense of developing and sustaining a strong web presence can be cost prohibitive for small hospitals. When those costs are shared across a network of affiliated hospitals, they become more manageable.
For St. Anthony, this represents a valuable addition to the resources it has available to its affiliates. SSM Healthcare of Oklahoma/St. Anthony Hospital Regional Marketing Vice President, Sandra Payne has invited Parker and representatives from s design to introduce this collaborative effort to its other affiliates during and upcoming Affiliate Council meeting in Oklahoma City later this summer.
For SMC, this is yet another example of how its partnership with St. Anthony Hospital is ensuring better healthcare for Alva and the surrounding areas. "Part of taking care of a community's health care needs is making them aware of the services available at their local medical center," explained Parker. The new website features a comprehensive list of services, doctors and specialties. Other medical center entities, i.e. Share Convalescent Home, The Homestead, and the Share Medical Center Foundation are also featured on the new website.
Parker continued, "We are pretty excited about our news archive and social media sharing options with the website." Other sections for patients and job seekers are complemented by a community section dedicated to telling about the Alva area.
Perhaps as important as the information on the website is the functionality of the site for the hospital. The new website is easily updated and modified through a user-friendly web-based application. Multiple individuals within the medical center can be trained to post various updates. Not everything on the website requires marketing department approval for posting.
Parker noted, "Administration can upload the board agendas for the hospital authority meetings. Human resources can change position openings as needed. The activities department can update the activity calendar." This makes the operation more efficient by eliminating a step from SMC's previous process which required these departments to send such items to the information technology department, marketing department, or both in order to be posted to the website.
