“This event symbolizes the loss of those left behind when someone they have cared for is no longer with them. Once the butterflies are released, they feel the weight of sorrow lift and their loved ones can soar again without limitations,” says Kayla Turner, Share Hospice director.
Hospice is a special healthcare option for patients and families who are faced with a terminal illness. A specialized team of physicians, nurses, aides, social worker, bereavement counselors and volunteers who work together to identify the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of each patient and family member. This team provides care to patients either in their home or home-like setting regardless of the ability to pay or patient’s age.
Anyone interested in remembering a loved one is welcome to attend. A gift of $5 can purchase a butterfly in the memory of a loved one. Contact Kayla Turner, Share Hospice director, at (580) 430-3369 or you can email her at kturner [at] smcok [dot] com for more information.
