July 31 is the next Caregiver Support Group meeting
Share Hospice Caregivers Support Group will meet on Thursday, July 31 at 6:00 pm in the Homestead for anyone who provides caregiver support to loved ones. “Most of us are not prepared for the emotional toll an ill loved one or friend can have on one’s self,” says Kayla Turner, Share Hospice director.
“Caring for a family member or a friend is not easy. No matter the level of support you give to that patient, your own self-care is important as well. You need time for your own emotions and physical well-being.”
“At the Caregiver Support Group, our focus is on you the caregiver, and we will provide you an opportunity to express your thoughts, feelings, worries and emotions as you go through the struggles of caring for a loved one who is ill. It does not matter if you are a current or a past caregiver, we will offer support and validation for all your feelings and emotions. We also want to discuss the role hospice can play in caregiving and what assistance we can provide to you and your family member or friend.” says Turner.
A variety of caregiver resources will be made available to those who attend. The Caregiver Support Group meets every fourth Thursday of each month. If you are interested in attending this group or interested in what hospice can offer, contact Kayla Turner at (580) 430-3369 or by email at kturner [at] smcok [dot] com.
