Caregiver Support Group meets June 26
Share Hospice Caregivers Support Group will meet on Thursday, June 26 at 6:00 pm in the Homestead for anyone who provides caregiver support to loved ones.
“Caring for a family member or a friend is not easy. No matter the level of support you give to that patient, your own self-care is important as well. You need time for your own emotions and physical well being. Most of us are not prepared for the emotional toll an ill friend or loved one can have on one’s self,” says Kayla Turner, Share Hospice director.
“At our Caregiver Support Group, we focus on you and what your needs are, then provide you an opportunity to express your thoughts, feelings, worries and emotions as you go through the same struggle as the one you are caring for. It does not matter if you are a current or a past caregiver, we will offer support and validation for all your feelings and emotions. We also want to dispel some of the myths surrounding hospice and when to call hospice for assistance,” says Turner.
A variety of caregiver resources will be made available to those who attend. The Caregiver Support Group meets every fourth Thursday of each month. If you are interested in attending this group or interested in what hospice can offer, contact Kayla Turner at (580) 430-3369 or by email at kturner [at] smcok [dot] com.
